How to spend your holiday in Mexico …
- Explore by snorkelling the under ground caves and passages at the huge eco-park Xcaret. This really makes a memorable day out and is great for adults and children alike. There are more than 50 attractions including a butterfly pavillion, a tropical jungle trail and an area called childrens world for the little ones. There are also lots of chill out areas with sunbeds and hammocks for time out from the activities. Entertainment goes on until the evenings with music and traditional Mexican shows.
- Sail away be ferry to the beautiful island of Cozumel. Just a short journey from the coastal resorts this is the perfect spot to wander around enjoying the ruins, watching everyday life in the square or spend time in a beach club. Alternatively get the heart rate pumping with an adrenaline fuelled off road experience by jeep and then finish off snorkelling the crystal clear waters.
- Take a guided tour to the majestic ancient Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza. This huge pyramid is a UNESCO World Heritage site and an archaeological wonder. Hear about the history of the Mayan culture from your guide. Many of the trips also offer the opportunity to swim in the underground caves called the Cenotes later in the day; the perfect way to cool off.
- Hop on board a catamaran and enjoy a leisurely cruise with a bbq lunch served and an open bar throughout the day. With beach time and time to snorkel in fantastic spots in the area. We have done a trip like this several times whilst holidaying here and find its one of our favourite days of the trip.
- Tantalise your tastebuds with some outstanding food choices ranging from gourmet fine dining to authentic local Yucutan dishes. Mexican and Tex Mex dishes such as nachos, fajitas and burritos are pretty much part of the staple offering in many of the resorts, alongside these you will find a superb offer of world wide foods such as Teppanyaki.
- Shop along 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen; here you will find small boutiques alongside big brands and lots of options to eat and drink too. Choices range from local bars and restaurants to big name brands you will recognise. The Avenue is a colourful and bright spot which is a hive of activity at day and evening.
- Enjoy the party atmosphere at cabaret club Coco Bongos in either Playa del Carmen or Cancun. See the acrobats, hear amazing singers and see live dancing and comedy performances and be ready to dance the night away.
- Relax at your chosen resort or hotel; the vast majority have a huge range of facilities to enable you to refresh and recharge. Enjoy a day at the spa, relax by the pool or enjoy time out sipping an ice cold Margarita as you watch the sunset.
