Beautiful Barbados Holidays
White soft sand beaches, luxury hotels and first class dining experiences; just a few of the reasons why Barbados has been a chosen destination for decades for those wanting to experience the finer things in life from their holidays. The rich and famous have been flocking to the tropical paradise for many years.
Just 21 miles long by 14 miles wide it is the most easterly of all Caribbean islands. With its wild and rugged Atlantic Coast and its calmer Carribean coast, picturesque coasts and palm fringed sands. It really is a picture postcard destination which is perfect for year round travel.
The West coast of the island is home to many glamorous and opulent hotels. One of its most famous is Sandy Lane known for its timeless elegance and prestigious service. You will also find many boutique hotels, colonial style hotels and all inclusive resorts in this area. Head south of the island to the Lawrence St Gap area for a livelier experience. Known as “The Gap” it has a range of accommodation including apartments and all inclusive hotels.
The island makes a great destination for all travellers; couples can find their perfect resort and families are also well catered for on this friendly island. The shallow water at St Lawrence Gap beach is perfect for paddling in. Groups of friends will find plenty of things to do both by day and by night with perfect options for adventure and relaxation.
How to spend your holiday in Barbados
- See the island like the locals on the “Reggae Bus”. These yellow buses whizz around the island, playing dancehall music as they travel. Not only are they cheap to use, they are also a lot of fun.
- Sample the Bajan cuisine; with a melting pot of flavours including lots of fresh shrimp, lobster and local fruit and vegetables your tastebuds will be tantalised. Try the speciality dish pepperpot; a stew or pork and beef which is seasoned with spices and hot peppers.
- Drink Caribbean rum in its birthplace; it would be rude not to. What better place is there to sample than from one of the rumshacks along the beach at St Lawrence Gap, whilst listening to the calypso sound of the steel band. Alternatively sign up to a cocktail making class and learn how to mix your own rum cocktails.
- Explore the oceans when you dive to one of the many Barrier Reefs; located a short distance from the shore with beautiful coral and an abundance of marine life. The waters hold a huge number of shipwrecks which can be explored; these range at depths to suit both beginners and experienced divers.
- Shop till you drop with a huge choice of luxury designer brands having shops on the island, and better still it is tax free. Alternatively indulge in some local handmade crafts to remind you of your holiday.
- Dance the night away at a music bar or nightclub; or join in at a street party. The Barbadians really know how to party!
- Go off road by jeep and visit the rugged north and east coasts of the island. Let the driver deal with the challenging terrain whilst you learn about the local culture, history, and ecosystem through your guide. Visit highlights such as Little Bay, Joe's River Forest, Bathsheba, and Edge Cliff.
