Many of the cities streets can become grid locked at any time of the day or evening which can cut into your stay. Tuk Tuk rides in the city can be exhilarating and great fun, but beware of over charging or being take to particular shops. Agree a price and a destination with your driver.
Markets are huge in Bangkok with day and night markets on a scale you may never have seen before. Visit the Chatuchak Market which welcomes more than 200,000 visitors each Saturday and Sunday. Not only is this market one of the biggest in the world it is also a hub for local life; a great spot for people watching. A more relaxed shopping experience can be found at Asiatique The Riverfront, which can be reached by free shuttle boat from many points along the Chao Phraya River.
The nightlife in Bangkok is spectacular with a huge choice of things to do. The Khao Saan Road area is particularly well known for its lively atmosphere, bars, shops and budget priced accommodations and is unsurprisingly popular with back packers. Enjoying the roof top bars of the city is a great way to spend the evening; why not hop from bar to bar! Alternatively go and see an extreme Muay Thai match; this national sport will definitely set your heart racing. Accompanied by traditional Thai music, its fast paced and exciting.

How to spend your holiday in Bangkok
- Book a personal guide for the day and see the city at the pace and in the way you want to. Meet up at your hotel in the morning and plan the day ahead or tell your guide in advance what you would like to achieve on your day and let them create a personal plan for you.
- Time your visit right and you might just get involved in the worlds biggest water fight. During April the Songkran festival takes place; this marks Thai New Year and is a huge event in the Buddhist calendar. Its an exhuberant affair; many Thai people will head home to spend time with their families there whilst others will head out into the streets to enjoy the water throwing. Prepare to get wet! Songkran takes place from 13th to 15th April each year.
- See the Emerald Buddha at Wat Phra Kaew the most famous temple in Thailand situated in the grounds of Bangkoks Grand Palace. The buddha itself is handcrafted from a single piece of jade with the temple around it being intricately and elaborately dressed.
- Experienced a romantic dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya River on a luxury and enjoy an unrivalled view of the cities spectacular skyline. Pass under bridges, and sail past beautiful temples whilst tucking in to some fabulous Thai food whilst listening to the sounds of a live band.
- Head out of the city and take a trip to Kanchanaburi to visit Erawan National Park and the Bridge over the River Kwai. Learn about the history of the death railway and how World War 2 played out in Thailand. Enjoy the beauty of the seven tier waterfalls in Erawan Park.
